The Lynn Pletcher Memorial Ride for Education and Preventing Childhood Obesity
(Semptember 1, 1940 – November 4, 2010)
Paul Lynn Pletcher was born in Indiana and moved to California to take his firs teaching job in 1963. A long-time resident of Yucaipa California, he retired in 2002 after 39 years of educational service. Lynn devoted his life to service to his family, his community and his faith. He spent much of his free time enjoying the outdoors.
One of those great outdoor activities was cycling. Lynn could be seen all over the Redlands, Yucaipa, and Banning areas in his Redlands Water Bottle Transit Company jersey with a couple companions. He was a great ambassador of cycling.
We lost Lynn in a biking accident on November 4, 2010, just two days before the 2nd Annual Strada Corsa Ride. We miss him greatly, but are comforted by knowing that he died doing what he loved.
To honor his memory and impact in our community, Strada Corsa Ride is officially naming its annual Fall charity ride the Lynn Pletcher Memorial Ride for Education and Preventing Child Obesity.
Scholarships will be offered in his name to Yucaipa Christian School and Yucaipa High School.
