The History and Passion
Jim Cochran is passionate about his faith, education, and the health of our children. He has used these three passions to raise thousands of dollars to benefit education as well as fitness programs for kid's health in the Inland Empire.

By day, Jim is a school principal. He spends most of his time with staff and kids at Yucaipa Christian School. After the school bell has rung, Jim suits up and heads out for ride time. Sometimes he enjoys a quiet ride alone, but often he can be seen riding with a group of kids in his "Bike Club." Jim not only likes sharing the enjoyment of the ride with young people but he relishes blazing a trail to help them experience a healthier life.

"Strada Corsa," which in Italian means "Road Ride," is comprised of two separate rides. These rides bring much-needed funds to education and fitness programs under Jim's supervision. Jim has answered the call to invest in quality education as well as fitness programs that help to fight childhood obesity. Perhaps you will consider participating with us!

Educating the whole child involves educating children beyond academic endeavors. It means that we involve ourselves in our kid's daily lives. It's been said that great education is "caught not taught." At Yucaipa Christian School there is an emphasis on helping kids "catch" life forming principles through mentor-based relationships. These relationships are the foundation for their success.

Get Involved
With so much talk about budget cuts and deficits, it can be a daunting task to locate the necessary funds to truly invest in our students to the degree that they deserve. We believe that to cut various education programs, electives, or clubs would have a negative impact on our objectives.

We are committed to educate, mentor, and invest in our students. New supplies, technology, and staffing are integral components needed to prepare our children to step out into the real world. We have spent a great deal of energy to cut costs where we can, as we believe it is our responsibility to students, parents, staff, board members, and to our community. Yucaipa Christian School gives great attention to prudent spending and selective programming. We also want to do more than help our kids survive. We want to help them thrive. We believe we can do it with your help.

What is "Strada Corsa?"
Although this year marks the 2nd Annual Strada Corsa rides, over the past seven years Jim Cochran and various riders have been raising funds to benefit education and health. From a 40-day fund-raising ride down the entire Pacific Coast from Canada to Mexico, to 15-day rides through the National Parks of Utah and Arizona, Jim and his companions have been there riding for kids. This is certainly a far cry from selling candy bars like most organizations do. However, Jim is committed to the journey as well as the destination. This is not just about raising money, but it's about raising kids. There are some things that just can't be learned standing in front of a store participating in a fundraiser. Jim uses his weekly Bite Club, as well as these fund-raising rides as a platform for helping make an impact on these young lives.

The Spring Tour is meant to bring out only the experts. This is a 7 day ride. We will be riding to Major League Baseball's Spring Training in Arizona! We will be hosted by the Peoria Sports Complex, home of the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners. We have also partnered with local minor league baseball for a "Strada Corsa night" to highlight both rides.

The Fall Strada Corsa road ride is meant to involve riders of every skill level. There will be three different courses: the family ride (5 mile and 10 mile loops), the intermediate ride (30 miles), and the expert ride (63 miles). Each ride will be approximately 2-5 hours. There will be an opening ceremony, food court, fun zone, raffles, vendors, and plenty of fun for all!
